First saw this on Steve Casimiro’s ‘the Adventure Life‘ blog. Beautifully shot, Steve adds some nice words here. Speaking words of veritable wisdom, Casimiro suggests that there is a strong element of pilgrimage in this short film as the unnamed surfer moves through New York City en route to a solo session. Surfing has always been about hydrotherapy, and the more you pass through the more you have to wash off. The grit of city life that accumulates is best rinsed away with salt water. He continues that such is true of all life’s issues, not just urban ones, but the contrast between concrete alleys and an open sea stands in finely rendered detail. And there’s nothing quite like water seeping into your wetsuit and sit on your board, watching the horizon for gifts. Nice.
Most of us can’t even ride a wheelie more than a few feet, let alone think about this kind of two-wheeled sorcery featuring the man who received almost 19 million views on YouTube for his ride-to-work Ad. Enjoy!
Quicksilver, the alternative-sport giant indulged in a low-budget spot of urban anarchy. People are still arguing if it’s real… And the result? Well in excess of 1.5m views. Boom.
